Hi There,

My name is Lindsay, and I am a survivor of a catastrophic motor vehicle accident that occurred on November 3rd, 2015.

Back in 2015, I was thriving and making a place for myself in the world. I was a young accounting professional, working full time and studying 25 hrs each week for my accounting designation. I lived on my own with my common-law spouse, and we were just starting out and trying to make a life for ourselves.

And Then it Hit Me…

My life as I knew it turned upside-down and changed forever! I was involved in a head-on motor vehicle collision that left me with serious life altering injuries requiring emergency surgery to survive. I was given a 5-10% chance of living, and I had flat lined twice. I sustained numerous orthopedic injuries and a severe traumatic brain injury.

My rehabilitation journey started immediately after the accident when I was airlifted to the hospital. This has been a rollercoaster experience from being confined to my bed and re-learning to walk all the way up to my current journey today. There have been many emotional ups and downs throughout my recovery. Everything that was in my life prior to the accident no longer exists and my life has completely changed in every aspect. I am now living with permanent disabilities.

I’ve been trying to make a new life for myself by participating in various forms of rehab, including going back to school and re-training for work. Through this journey, I am learning my “why”, which I have been in search of prior to this accident. After the accident happened I couldn’t help but ask “why me?” and “what did I do to deserve this”?

I’m slowly learning that I am here to help people, give back and to do whatever makes Lindsay happy in life. I recently graduated from school with honours and couldn’t be more excited to begin the next chapter in my life.

And Then It Hit Me…

I want to create a platform where people can share their personal stories of recovery – the good, the bad and the evil. Different perspectives of health care professionals or family and friends impacted by these accidents may inspire one person or make a difference in the world!
